Mad Science Assembly

Today some Mad Scientists arrived at our school. Their names were Galactic Grace, Lunar Lucy, Radioactive Rhys and Shockwave Susie. First we went into the hall and they did an assembly. They asked for four volunteers to hold up the words 'gravity', 'lift', 'drag' and 'thrust'. They told us what these words meant. We learnt about some scientists like Daniel Bernoulli who found about about the shape wings need to be to get good lift. We also heard about the Wright brothers. We launched some rubber rockets and discovered that rockets fly best if they have fins and a cone-shaped nose. We were really excited when they demonstrated lift with a giant hair dryer and some toilet rolls. The toilet roll flew everywhere.
